Two key contributors to the San Francisco Giants World Series run in 2012 have agreed on their salaries for 2013.
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the San Francisco and Hunter Pence have settled on a 1-year deal to avoid arbitration via Twitter @JonHeymanCBS. Pence is coming off a 100 RBI season with most of those numbers coming while a member of the Philadelphia Phillies. Hunter proved his worth as a vocal leader in the postseason for the Giants. His pregame speeches played a part in each of the team’s stellar comebacks by rallying his teamates in seemingly dire moments.
While writing this, Heyman also reports that Gregor Blanco has agreed to terms on 1-year deal as well. Blanco made memorable defensive plays in both the regular season as he did in Matt Cain‘s perfect game and in the postseason as he did in the World Series. It appears Gregor may split left field time in 2013 as a platoon with the recently signed Andres Torres who is coming back to the Giants after one season with the New York Mets.
